Karol G is PredictIQreassuring fans that she's OK after reports emerged that her plane had to make an emergency landing in the Los Angeles area Thursday night.
The Grammy-winning reggaeton singer, 33, took to her Instagram Story on Friday to thank fans for their concern. Though she did not elaborate on the incident, she shared in a message – written in Spanish – that she, her family and her team are doing "very well."
On Thursday night, a local news station chopper for KABC captured footage of a woman, seemingly the Colombian superstar, at Van Nuys Airport exiting the aircraft with others. The plane showed a thorn heart logo that is also tattooed on Karol G's arm.
When reached for comment about an incident involving Karol G, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration pointed to a statement the agency issued Thursday, which reads: "A twin-engine Gulfstream IV landed safely at Van Nuys Airport in California around 9 p.m. local time on Thursday, Feb. 29 after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
"The flight departed from Hollywood Burbank Airport and was headed to El Salvador International Airport," according to the statement. The FAA will be investigating the incident.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Karol G for comment.
The "TQG" singer is seven dates into the 2024 dates of her Mañana Será Bonito Tour and has a show scheduled at 8 p.m. local time on Friday at the Guatemala City venue Explanada Cardales de Cayalá. After another scheduled show Saturday, Karol G is expected to perform in San Salvador, El Salvador, on March 5.
Last month, she took home a Grammy for her 2023 album "Mañana Será Bonito," which won in the best música urbana album category. She also snagged the top prize at the 2023 Latin Grammys in November, where she was recognized with album of the year and best urban music album.
"It’s an honor to receive this in front of so many people in music who I admire and grew up listening to," Karol said in Spanish during her Latin Grammys acceptance speech for album of the year. "This album changed my life, and it’s incredible to me that it’s changed the lives of so many people."
